JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood

A manga series which involves (to date) eight different story arcs, each with its own set of characters-- but all of the leads' names can be read as "JoJo."


JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is one of the longest running series, written and illustrated by Hirohiko Araki since 1987, having more than 100 volumes (as of May, 2012). There are eight story arc throughout the series, but some of them are not related to each other but they do have one thing in common, they all have the main character nicknamed JoJo.

Story Arcs and The JoJo's

Phantom Blood / Jonathan Joestar

Main protagonist of Phantom Blood arc, Jonathan Joestart must fight Dio Brando, who became vampire with a mysterious stone mask, with a technique known as Ripple.

Battle Tendency / Joseph Joestar

Set years after the events of Phantom Blood, grandson of Jonathan Joestar, Joseph Joestar fights against an ancient vampire clan that was once sealed but released by Nazi.

Stardust Crusaders / Jotaro Kujo

Dio Brando is back using the body of Jonathan Joestar with a new power called Stand, which is affecting all the Joestar bloodline. Joseph Joestar's daughter and also Jotaro Kujo's mother, Holly Kujo gets affected as well but her body cannot handle such power. To save her from getting killed by her own Stand, Joseph and Jotaro set on a journey to defeat Dio.

Note : The American version of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure began its publishing from Stardust Crusaders arc, so the volume one of American version is actually volume 13 of original series.

Diamond is Unbreakable / Josuke Higashikata

Shortly after the events of Stardust Crusaders, Jotaro goes to the town of Morioh to investigate a couple of things. One was to find his "uncle" Josuke Higashikata, who is actually younger than Jotaro. He was born when Jotaro's grandfather Joseph fooled around with Josuke's mother. Another matter that Jotaro wanted to investigate was a mysterious bow and arrow that once belonged to Dio, which gave Stand power to normal people. Jotaro came to Morioh hoping they would not fall into the wrong hands.

Venturo Aureo / Giorno Giovana

Venturo Aureo's story centers around a boy named Giorno Giovana, who is actually a son of Dio Brando. It is unknown if he also has the power of vampire, but he does have a Stand power named Golden Experience. Using his Stand power, he hopes to become leader of all the Mafias in Italy.

Stone Ocean / Jolyne Kujo

Jotaro Kujo's daughter, Jolyne Kujo has been arrest and sent to prison. It was revealed that was big part of trap to lure her father and steal his Stand and memory. To save her father Jolyne decides to stay in prison to retrieve Jotaro's Stand and memory while discovering who is behind all of this.

Steel Ball Run / Johnny Joestar

Set in alternate timeline, Johnny Joestar and Gyro Zeppeli must take place in race that would travel across United States in order to achieve their own goal. Along the race, they discover various participants with Stand powers, as well the the truth behind the purpose of race.

JoJolion / Josuke Higashikata

Set in the same Universe of STB in Morioh Town
