This TV special features Sabo, Luffy, and Ace's childhood past as well as anime exclusive scenes about Sabo's visit to Ace and Whitebeard's grave and experiences in Dressrosa in his point of view. [1]
Plot[]
Sabo visits the grave of Whitebeard and his brother, Ace. He recalls fond memories of their childhood: their celebration of being brothers and vowing their big dreams.
A flashback cuts to Luffy trying to save Ace during Marineford arc. With the flashback over, Sabo shares that Ivankov had explained what had transpired. Sabo deeply regrets not going there to save Ace and Luffy as he shed tears of not seeing Ace when he was still alive. He takes a sip of sake after declaring that he will inherit Ace's will.
In Dressrosa and at the diner, Koala debriefs Sabo about the situation and the Devil Fruit powers of Doflamingo's family. Sabo observes a scene where a toy tried to tell his son that he is his father. Koala explains about Sugar's powers that shrouded the country's dark secrets. Koala mentions there is an underground port that ships weapons. Hack calls in and informs them about the prize that Doflamingo had offered. Several hours later, Luffy's group arrives. After Doflamingo announces the Flare-Flare Fruit as the grand prize in his coloseum, Sabo and Hack enter the tournament grounds.
As the tournament progresses with Luffy participating, Law's group continue their business over at Green Bit. While Koala waits at the diner, Sabo asks the convict gladiators for intel. He finds out Hack had lost afterwards. At Green Bit, Robin and Usopp find one of the Tontattas. After Luffy knocks out the giant, Hajrudin, Sabo finds out Luffy is in the tournament. Sabo watches Luffy take on Chinjao.
After Chinjao is defeated by Luffy, Sabo recalls to an event where they saved Luffy from Porchemy. Afterwards, Sabo had moved in with Luffy and Ace's household. During a ramen run, Sabo reveals to his brothers that he was son of a noble but ran away from home. Those memories run past Sabo. Sabo overhears Bartholomew taking a message from Zoro and Kin'emon outside to Luffy.
When Doflamingo and Fujitora take Law, Luffy tries to find a way to escape the coloseum. Sabo follows Luffy who bumps into Bartholomew, and while he overhears Bart assuring Luffy that he win the Flare-Flare Fruit, Sabo decides to make himself known to Luffy. Sabo declares that he will obtain the Flare-Flare Fruit and reminds Luffy that he had another brother. Luffy is at loss as Sabo removes his hat. While Luffy, Zoro, and Kin'emon make their way towards the palace, Sabo converses with Koala about their situation. Koala is still searching for the underground port. As Luffy's group meet up with Violet, Koala arrives at the coloseum. Sabo encounters Rebecca and assures her that he won't do her wrong.
In a flashback, his father and Bluejam restrain Luffy and Ace. Sabo hesitantly throws away his freedom in exchange that his father spare his 2 friends. After the events of Gray Terminal being burned down, Sabo decides to flee Goa Kingdom on his boat during the day where a Celestial Dragon had visited the kingdom. Sabo's ship was shot down by the Celestial Dragon.
While Sabo participates in the final round, Luffy's group infiltrates the palace. As soon as Sugar's powers are canceled out, panic and chaos ensues the Dressrosa kingdom. Taking advantage of the chaos, Sabo punches a hole into the ring, draining all the water. Sabo steals the Flare-Flare Fruit and announces that he had won. Rescuing Rebecca, Sabo fires Ace's Flames towards the whirlpool.
